Dear Learner

We're already half way through October! And that means some big Autumn festivals are on their way including Hallowe'en. Of course we have a podcast and video for that: Spooky nights. Shortly after Hallowe'en we have Bonfire night on November 5th and another pie video. Both of these are for level 1.

Meanwhile we have put up our 99th pie video! And we now have 693 podcasts on the site, something for everyone! The latest video is for our beginners level. We talk about our summer holiday and the problem we had. Watch Mountain high and find out where we went and what happened!

October has loads of special days! Far too many to mention here but check out the sidebar on the levels pages to see them. They include a number of our pie videos, for example 1.58 Lisbon is yellow and, 3.127 The streets of Kolkata (UN World Cities day is 31 October). We also have podcasts for World Singing Day on 19th.

Remember that while most podcasts are free, podcasts 1 - 99 are for members only. Each podcast has essential transcripts, worksheets and extra materials for teachers and learners and with over 2000 to choose from, Join pie now!

If you are not already a member, one lucky winner in our monthly competition gets free pie membership! Julia, from Italy, was the lucky winner of last month's competition. She correctly said the answer was was c) the rides. For this month just answer this question:

Which day is market day? Is it a) Monday, b) Thursday or c) all weekend? The answer is in this beginners video: Going out.

Write your answer on our Contact us page. Remember to tell us your name and where you are from. Good luck! Answers by the end of the month.

Best wishes
