Monthly news from podcastsinenglish.com Dear Teacher It's July, which means we are glued to the TV watching sport. The Euros and Wimbledon are over, the Tour de France is finishing (c'mon Cavendish!) and the Olympics are about to start. For our last podcast in June we asked a question: What is Britishness? What does it mean to those people who live on the island of Great Britain? Are Jackie and Richard waving the Union Jack or the George Cross? Do you think everyone in England is happy to support their football team? This podcast is for level 2. We start July talking about accidents (nothing serious!) and Richard explains why he's Accident prone. This podcast goes well with Whoops! where Richard talks about his cycling accident... These are for level 1. We have new Podcasts of the Month of course. For level 1 we ask Can you swim? and what do you have for Breakfast? For level 2 we invite you to Come camping with us (which includes one of our pie videos). For level 3 Linda talks about why she loves holidaying in Italy so much, listen to Forza Italia and find out why. We also have a lot of podcasts for July and the summer including Summer jobs - listen and find out what jobs we did over the holidays when we were students. This is for level 1. But there are many more highlighted podcasts in the sidebar of the level pages so do have a look. We have updated the level lists. These are complete lists for levels 1, 2 and 3 to help you find the podcast that interests you. Plus we have updated the Special Days list so you can find podcasts that go with special days of the year. For example we have Chocolate, yay! for World Chocolate Day, 7 July. You can find the lists here If you are not already a member, then every month one lucky winner to our competition gets free pie membership for 3 months. Markus, from Germany, was the lucky winner of last month's competition. He correctly said that c) winter was the best time to visit the Algarve. For this month just answer this question: How old was Richard when he learnt to swim? Was it a) 5 or 6, b) 7 or 8 or c) 9 or 10 years of age? The answer is in this level 1 podcast: Can you swim? Write your answer on our Contact us page. Remember to tell us your name and where you are from. Good luck! Answers by the end of the month. Best wishes Richard and Jackie The pie team |
