Dear Teacher

So far it's not been the kind of summer we expected but we do hope there are more and more opportunities to go outside and enjoy the sun. And what nicer way is there than spending a day sitting on the grass with a Picnic? This podcast is for level 3. However, you do have to look out for the Creepy crawlies that are around this time of the year! This podcast is for level 1. These are both in our Podcasts of the month section. You'll find it in the sidebar for the levels but there are others.

We also have, in the sidebar, lots of Podcasts for June. These include Beauty or the beast? Opposing views on the use of wind turbines (Global Wind Day is 15 June) and Sing, sang, sung - so just how keen are Jackie and Richard on singing? Listen and find out! (World Music Day is 21 June)

Meanwhile, we start the month with another podcast relevant to June. 14 June is World Blood Donor Day and we talk about the importance of donating in There will be blood. This is for level 3. Do you give blood? Do you know what your blood type is?

There are not only podcasts and worksheets but we also have loads of extra materials for teachers including top tips to help students listen to real conversations and helping them recognise the key natural features of spoken English. And there's more! All on the Pie plus page.

Also, why not enter our monthly competition? It's open to teachers and learners and the winner gets 3 months free pie membership! Just answer this question:

How many striped dolphins did Jackie see? She saw a) a group of 25 , b) over a hundred, or c) over a thousand? The answer is in this podcast: Whale watching.

Write your answer on our Contact us page. Remember to tell us your name and where you are from. Good luck! Answers by the end of the month.

All the very best.

Richard and Jackie
