Monthly news from podcastsinenglish.com Dear Teacher This is how we started last year's August news: "As we write this it is, incredibly, almost 45º C outside". Well, we have no idea what is happening this month, or indeed this summer. Temperatures have hardly gone over 30º C all season, let alone 40. Today we have a maximum of 29º C and it rained this morning! However, we are sure there are plenty of others who are having a normal summer (if you are in the northern hemisphere that is) and would like to listen to more of our summer podcasts. These include Can you swim? for level 1 and The picnic for level 3. We may not be eating outside but we hope you are! We have also added to the sidebar more 'podcasts of the month'. For level 1 we have Hotel Alicante, listen to hear if we enjoyed our stay there. For level 2 there is one of our pie videos. Ignore the rain and Come camping with us! Then for level 3 Pam talks about being left-handed in a right-handers' world: My left hand. Left Handers' Day is 13 August. Meanwhile,we start the month with a great video from the BBC. This is all about Zack, one of Britain's great eccentrics. Watch to find out what makes this young man so unusual in A regency gentleman. This is for level 3. Note that while most podcasts are free, podcasts 1 - 75 are for members only. Each podcast has plenty of worksheets and materials which make a ready-made lesson. There are over 500 to choose from, so why not join pie! Or, why not enter our monthly competition? The winner gets 3 months free pie membership! Just answer this question: What are our normal summer shoes? Do we a) wear nothing (go barefoot), b) wear flip-flops, or c) wear sandals? The answer is in this podcast: Sun and sandals. Write your answer on our Contact us page. Remember to tell us your name and where you are from. Good luck! Answers by the end of the month. Remember you can always keep up with our latest news, which includes information about podcasts we think will interest you, by liking our Facebook page. Leave a comment, we love hearing from our listeners. All the very best for teaching English in 2019! Richard and Jackie The pie team |
