Dear Teacher

It's here at last – the World Cup. We have loads of ideas for teachers on how to use the World Cup in your classes. Have a look at Kick off! which has a lesson plan for teachers, the worksheets have been updated for the 2014 event. We hope the activities will make the event interesting even for those who aren't keen on football.

Meanwhile for level 1 this week we talk about Brazil: not just a country listen to how and why two trees have the same name as the country.

Earlier this month for level 2 we talked about The World Cup not the event but the trophy. It has an interesting past which students may be interested to hear.

Last month we did a business podcast: FIFA scores. For many football is a passion, for FIFA it's purely a financial affair.

You'll see on the sidebar there are more links to podcasts about the World Cup, plus podcasts about Brazil. Plenty to keep your students happy for the month ahead! It's not too late to send us some suggestions though so please write to us with any ideas.

Best wishes
