Monthly news from podcastsinenglish.com and Competition Time!
Dear Teacher
It looks like it's going to be a cold winter for us in Europe; we already have the Winter blues which is a level 1 podcast about why we are not looking forward to the long winter season ahead.
Perhaps England's chances at the World Cup might cheer us up! Remember we have a number of podcasts for the event including A clash of continents (will Europe win it yet again?) and there are some fun facts about the actual trophy: The World Cup. These are both for level 2. And have you heard, the Vuvuzela is still very popular. Listen to our level 1 podcast about that noisy blower.
Our new beginner level podcast / video is also on the World Cup theme, but in C'mon the Reds we talk about the clothes the players are wearing. Who has the best kit?!
Of course December for us means Christmas and we have LOADS of podcasts and videos for that. Along with the Christmas adverts on TV, all of which have worksheets, we have Figgy pudding for level 1 (what do you eat at Christmas?), O Christmas tree for level 2 and Unwanted gifts for level 3. However, do go and look at the sidebar for the levels to see all the other podcasts and videos we recommend for the month ahead.
Remember that while most podcasts are free, podcasts 1 - 99 are for members only. Each podcast has essential transcripts, worksheets and extra materials for teachers and learners and with over 2000 to choose from, Join pie now!
If you are not already a member, one lucky winner in our monthly competition gets free pie membership! Juan, from Mexico, was the lucky winner of last month's competition. He correctly said the answer was b) the king of England. For this month just answer this question:
Richard says red is a popular colour for football teams because its a) a strong colour, b) a lucky colour or c) a positive colour. The answer is in this level 1 podcast / video: C'mon the Reds!.
Write your answer on our Contact us page. Remember to tell us your name and where you are from. Good luck! Answers by the end of the month.
Best wishes
Richard and Jackie
