Dear Teacher

Hooray for May, we say! There's something special about the last month of spring and knowing summer is just around the corner.

We have a new podcast for level 3: Tilting towers. This takes us to both Italy and the US to talk about two buildings with the same problem. Our level 2 podcast asks What did you learn at school today? We question whether it's suitable for children just to learn academic subjects in the classroom, or whether some more practical skills should be taught. What do you think?

We have another podcast and video for our new beginners level this month too. This time Richard talks about a Family wedding. It was a very nice day, but who was the surprise guest?!

The sidebar for the levels is where you can find the Podcasts of the month, these are podcasts from our archives which we think you mustn't miss! They include The merry month of May, New Arrivals and Knit one, purl one.

Also in the sidebar you'll find the Podcasts for May, these podcasts are linked to special days. On top of the world and The tipping point concern Mt. Everest, which was first climbed on 29 May 1953. We also have No smoking for World No Tobacco Day on 31 May.

If you are not already a member, one lucky winner in our monthly competition gets free pie membership! Giovanni, from Italy, was the lucky winner of last month's competition. He correctly said that Helena got a) 3 litres of milk for her cheese. For this month just answer this question:

Which two months did Jackie have her stall? Was it a) April and May, b) September and October, or c) November and December? The answer is in this video: The market stall

Write your answer on our Contact us page. Remember to tell us your name and where you are from. Good luck! Answers by the end of the month.

Best wishes

Richard and Jackie
