Dear Teacher

Happy New Year! It's 2020 - how can that be?! It seems a year in the future is with us now. But not only is it 2020 it's also January and one way to blow away the January blues is to check out all our podcasts we recommend for you. So for our Podcasts of the month we have one of our pie videos: The market stall Jackie and a friend tried to sell some things last year. What did they sell and how did they do? Have a watch / listen and find out. This is for level 1.

For level 2 Karin tells Jackie about all her apps in Not just a phone, and for level 3 we are sure we are not the only ones who ate too much over the festive period. Listen to You are what you eat for some ideas for dieting!

We also have a number of podcasts for the New Year, check out the sidebar in the levels for those. Our favourite is British icons: the panto Have you been to a pantomime? They're very popular in the UK this time of the year.

So did we have Happy hols? The answer is in our first podcast of the month which is for level 2. Big holidays can always be a bit stressful but did everything go okay with us, or were there some problems along the way? We realise that the winter is not just about Christmas, we also have a worksheet about other festivals celebrated this time of the year.

We usually have a quiz in January about the year just past but for this month we look to the future. What do we think will happen in 2020? Listen to Richard's guesses in 2020: the future? This is for level 1.

Note that while most podcasts are free, podcasts 1 - 75 are for members only. Each podcast has plenty of worksheets and materials which make a ready-made lesson. There are over 500 to choose from, so why not join pie!

Or, why not enter our monthly competition? The winner gets 3 months free pie membership! Just answer this question:

What does Jackie say is her favourite odd couple? Is it a) a monkey and a kitten; b) a monkey and a puppy; or c) a dog and a baby owl. The answer is in this level 1 podcast: Animal odd couples. Write your answer on our Contact us page. Remember to tell us your name and where you are from. Good luck! Answers by the end of the month.

All the very best.
