Monthly news from podcastsinenglish
Dear Teacher
October is one of our favourite months: the weather is not too cold yet and there are some nice things to look forward to. In fact The fall, is one of our featured podcasts this month. Listen and find out why Jackie and Richard like autumn. For level 2 we have Good boy! Guide Dogs Week is 3 - 11 October this year. And for level 3 we have Going Dutch, meet Hendrik and find out why he doesn't come from Holland!
Meanwhile, we start this month with a podcast about The refugees. The crisis has been on our televisions and in the newspapers for a long time now so we look at where the refugees come from, and where they are going. This is for level 3. Have a look at our extra worksheet - how good is your knowledge of European geography?!
Our second podcast this month is for level 2, and includes a fun video we made of our time in Cowboy country. Find out where we went and what we did with the cowboys!
The UN says that October 31st is World Cities Day so we talk about City life for level 1. We talk about our favourite cities and ones we would like to visit. Where is your favourite city? It's also Hallowe'en (level 3). The night of witches and ghosts has an interesting history.
Next month is busy for events. Movember is now an annual event that is getting more and more popular, hear what all the fuss is about in Lord of the lip. There's a video for this too. In the UK, November 5th is Bonfire night, one of the most popular events of the year. This also has a video. Finally, 11th November in the UK is Poppy Day , originally recalling the end of World War 1. We talk about how a simple wildflower can have so much meaning.
Best wishes
Jackie and Richard
