Monthly news from podcastsinenglish.com
Dear Learner
We have loads of podcasts on the site which feature British icons: people, places, objects or events that play a big part in our culture. Three of these are our Podcasts of the month. For level 1 we talk about Two great British meals a breakfast and a lunch. For level 2 we have a popular British legend: Robin Hood and for level 3 we have 3! A wall, a bridge and a tower are all part of our history, can you guess which ones those are?
Also in the sidebar of the levels pages you can find More summer podcasts including one of our pie vids: Ice creammmm. Watch and learn how to make the taste of summer! Do have a look at the sidebar as there are plenty more podcasts we think you should listen to over the summer.
We finished last month with a level 2 podcast: Lost in translation. Which language is the easiest for English speakers to learn, and which is the most difficult to translate? For August we talk about something which British people seem to love: Antiques! Listen and find out why they are a popular part of our culture. This is a level 1 podcast.
Meanwhile, do please give us some ideas for future topics. With over 660 podcasts on the site (really!) it's getting more and more difficult to find good subjects to talk about, and we love hearing from our listeners.
If you are not already a member, one lucky winner in our monthly competition gets free pie membership! Antonio from Mexico was the lucky winner of last month's competition. He correctly said that the answer was b) the water is very cold on the Isle of Man!
For this month just answer this question: When does Jackie like walking? Is it a) everyday, b) only on holiday or c) she doesn't like walking? The answer is in this beginner's level video: Our next holiday.
Write your answer on our Contact us page. Remember to tell us your name and where you are from. Good luck! Answers by the end of the month.
Best wishes
Richard and Jackie
