Dear Learner

We've already had Bonfire night (5th November) and Poppy Day (11th November) but there are plenty of other special days in November and we have podcasts for them, including A podcast about poo (World Toilet Day is 19 November), 2.42 Watching the box, (World TV Day is November 21), and 1.112 Thanksgiving... and Black Friday where Richard talks about his time in the United States (November 25 & 26).

Check out the highlighted podcasts of the month too: Household chores for level 1 (also a pie vid), A mouse in the house for level 2 and Liquid gold (it's over 10 years since we did our first olive harvest!). This level 3 podcast also has a pie vid.

Meanwhile in our first podcast for November we have another podcast in our Life before the Internet series, for level 2. This time we talk about Letter writing. Just how did we correspond with friends and family before emailing and social media?!

If you are not already a member, one lucky winner in our monthly competition gets free pie membership! Maria Elena, from Italy, was the lucky winner of last month's competition. She correctly said the first postboxes appeared in c) Jersey. For this month just answer this question:

Who did James I make life very difficult for? Was it a) the French, b) Catholics, or c) women? The answer is in this level 1 podcast / video: Bonfire night.

Write your answer on our Contact us page. Remember to tell us your name and where you are from. Good luck! Answers by the end of the month.

Best wishes

Richard and Jackie
