Dear Learner

At last, for us at least, the summer is over which means we have some autumnal Podcasts of the Month. There's The fall for level 1 and Mushrooms for level 2. For level 3 we have Sue talking about her Fear of flying. These can be found in the sidebar for the levels.

October has lots of special days and we have podcasts for most of them including Looking is seeing (World Sight Day is 13 October) and City life (UN World Cities day is 31 October). Plus, of course, we have a podcast and video for Hallowe'en. Check out the sidebar on the levels page for these and more!

Meanwhile, the first podcast for October is a level 2 podcast about food. But this time we're not talking about eating it. In What's cooking? Richard talks about what things he can make in the kitchen. Is he any good? Listen and find out! And do tell us about the things you can cook, we love hearing from our listeners.

Look out for two more podcasts this month. However, with over 540 podcasts on the site how can you find what you are looking for? Remember we have a set of lists to help you: one for each level and one for Special Days.

Note that while most podcasts are free, podcasts 1 - 75 are for members only. Why not make 2019 your year to learn English and join pie!

Or, why not enter our monthly competition? The winner gets 3 months free pie membership! Just answer this question:

What did the ancient Egyptians use baking soda for? Was it for a) cooking, b) cleaning their teeth, or c) paintings? The answer is in this level 2 podcast: Baking soda. Write your answer on our Contact us page. Remember to tell us your name and where you are from. Good luck! Answers by the end of the month.

Remember you can always keep up with our latest news, which includes information about podcasts we think will interest you, by liking our Facebook page. Leave a comment, we love hearing from our listeners.

All the very best for learning English in 2019!
